Ruhama finalist for Charities Institute Ireland Charity of the Year 2024

15 August 2024

Ruhama is delighted to be shortlisted as a finalist for the Charity of the Year with the Charities Institute Ireland (CII) Charity Excellence Awards 2024. This prestigious award recognises the charity organisation that has ‘excelled in the past year, achieving remarkable accomplishments in support of their beneficiaries and garnering widespread admiration from the sector’. Ruhama is a unique NGO in Ireland dedicated to supporting women who have been impacted by prostitution, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation and we work with some of the most vulnerable women in society.

Ruhama CEO Barbara Condon says:

‘Ruhama’s vision is of a world free of the sexual exploitation of women, where all women’s lives are valued. In addition to providing safe, accessible, psychological and practical support to women impacted by sexual exploitation, we aim to raise public awareness on sexual exploitation and sexual violence, participate in and generate new innovative research, and advocate and lobby on policy and legislation that will support and protect women. We are honoured to be nominated for this award as it reflects an acknowledgement, not just of our service, but of the women that we work with who are so often hidden from society, overlooked and forgotten.’

The ‘People’s Choice Award’ allows the public to choose their favourite shortlisted charity finalist. A vote to support Ruhama for this category is a vote of confidence that, with advocacy and support, women impacted by prostitution and trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation can rebuild their lives and heal from the exploitation, trauma and sexual violence that they have experienced.
